About Us

Stonehaven Horizon is a voluntary group which was formed in 2003 to foster civic pride in the town. It began as a subcommittee of the Community Council.

Initially we organised clean-ups of the various trouble spots in the town. It soon became evident that an action group was needed and so Horizon was born. We have developed as a group both in numbers and in the amount of projects we have undertaken.

Since the group was formed in 2003 we have been involved in various projects such as providing and maintaining the town's many floral displays, working with the Stonehaven schools' Eco Groups and regular community litter picks.

We carry out these litter picks in specific areas which need attention.   Other groups have also been formed such as 'Adopt a Street', which residents undertook to look after their immediate area or road.

Since these activities started we have noticed a considerable reduction in the amount of litter in the town.

In conjunction with Landscape Services we help to plant bulbs and trees, including the planting of sixty Rowan Trees.

We hold an annual bulb sale in the Autumn which encourages town residents to try new varieties of bulbs.   It also helps raise funds for our other activities.
