Welcome to the Stonehaven Horizon website.

Stonehaven Horizon is a voluntary group whose aim is to foster civic pride in the town and make Stonehaven a better place to live and work in.  The group began as a subcommittee of the Stonehaven & District Community Council and initially organised clean-ups of the town's trouble spots.  This developed into the action group 'Stonehaven Horizon Project' in order to meet the challenges facing the town.

Since the group's formation in 2003, we have grown in numbers and have become involved in many capacities throughout Stonehaven: providing and maintaining the town's many floral displays, working with school eco groups, and organising regular community litter picks.  We have noticed a considerable reduction in the amount of litter about town since the start of these litter picks, and since many Stonehaven residents got involved in 'Adopt-A-Street', an initiative where groups take care of their immediate area or road.

Our other activities include the planting of bulbs and trees in conjunction with Aberdeenshire Council's Landscape Services.  As part of one project, we planted 60 Rowan trees.  We also hold a bulb sale every Autumn, which encourages town residents to try new bulb varieties and helps to raise funds for our activities.

Stonehaven Horizon Project has also won several awards at Beautiful Scotland competitions over the years.
