Horizon was approached by residents of a recently built housing estate who asked for help with a small area of derelict land to the North of Cowie Mill. This is next to the the road of one of the main entrances to the town. Rosemary is pictured choosing a block of granite for the entrance stone
A local building contractor kindly offered to use his digger to clear the
land of brambles and scrub. We then covered the whole area with a membrane to suppress any further unwanted growth.
Horizon members together with residents from the estate planted shrubs, small trees and alpine plants which will encourage wildlife back into the area.
A large granite stone was placed facing the road and a 'Welcome to Stonehaven' nameplate was fixed to the stone.
Everyone involved with the project joined in the celebrations for a successful and satisfying job well done.
